Western Reserve Harley-Davidson
Owners Zoli and Stacy became proud Harley-Davidson® dealers in June of 2000.
Why "Western Reserve"? It has to do with northeast Ohio’s history – especially the
unusual way in which the area was mapped and settled. Northern Ohio is exactly west
of Connecticut on a map. During the colonization years, Ohio was about as far west as
the maps went. Early settlers referred to the area as “New Connecticut”, but the name
was eventually replaced by “Western Reserve”.
In 1786, the State of Connecticut finally gave up its claims to Western lands - except for
this portion of northeastern Ohio. The land was later sold to the Connecticut Land
Company, which surveyed and settled the region. For many years thereafter the
northeastern section of Ohio was called the “Connecticut Western Reserve” - or just
“Western Reserve”.
